Are you taking part in our reading campaign?
Reading is the golden thread that runs through everything we do at Warrington & Vale Royal College. Our staff and students are exposed to a huge selection of reading material in all different genres. We run an Accelerated Reading Scheme, a Reading Ahead Challenge, book swaps, a reading corner and we invest a lot of time promoting reading and the rewards that come with reading. Our students demonstrate the benefits in their written, oral and classwork and we hope continue their reading journey long after. Last year the college was awarded a Gold Award by The Reading Agency for our participation and success in Reading Ahead and we hope to build on that this year. Follow #wherereadinghappens to keep up with the latest news on our literacy campaign.
Look out for our shelf-help areas
The LRC has a collection of books aimed at teenagers and young adults containing high quality information, support and advice on a wide-range of mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders and self-harm, and difficult life pressures, like bullying and exams. We call this our shelf help collection.
The LRC Corner is an ‘oasis’ of calm, a comfortable place to reflect, take a breath or catch up on some reading.
Our qualified and friendly staff are always available if you need help accessing any resources. You can reach us on 01925 494422 at our Warrington campus or 01925 494423 at our Winsford campus or email firstname.lastname@example.org
