Hospitality and catering students are leaving Warrington Collegiate with the recipe for success thanks to the exceptional standard of teaching and training within the department.
Staff and students are celebrating after receiving a prestigious Medal for Excellence from awarding body City & Guilds.
The award recognises the achievement of learners, lecturers and trainers who have achieved great results by producing exceptional work – going above and beyond what is expected to achieve their goals.
The college’s award comes after professional cookery student Russell Wood was named the winner of an individual Medal for Excellence award earlier this term.
Andy Macleod, curriculum leader for hospitality and catering, said: “We are absolutely made up to receive this award from City & Guilds – it really shows how much work we are putting in here at the college to ensure all of our learners are getting the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in industry.”
This is the latest in a long line of achievements for the department and comes after they brought home the silver medal from the Welsh International Culinary Championships last month.
Andy added: “We’ve got some incredibly talented young chefs here at the college. I’m incredibly proud of all of them and of the department as a whole. To bring home a silver medal from an international competition and receive this award within a matter of weeks is just incredible.”
