Talented bricklayers from Warrington & Vale Royal College put their skills to the test when they took on fellow students from across the North West in a heated competition in Liverpool.
Jack Bircham came second in the senior section at the Guild of Bricklayers North West Competition, narrowly missing out on first place by just three points, whilst Rick Caple took third place in the junior section.
The competition saw apprentices Jack and Rick tasked with building a brick structure from a drawing they had only been given less than 30 minutes previously.
Andy Atkin, Curriculum Manager for Construction Trades at the college, said: “The Guild of Bricklayers North West is a prestigious competition that puts the best young bricklayers to the test. For Jack and Rick to take part and to represent Warrington & Vale Royal College in such fantastic fashion is something they should be very proud of.”
Jack and Rick’s success at the competition will put them in good stead for their next challenge when they take part in the annual SkillBuild Competition (North West region) in May.
