Staff and students from Warrington Collegiate were given an insight into the world of Islam as part of Visit My Mosque Day.
Warrington Islamic Centre welcomed Hannah Swift, Senior Tutor in Construction and Engineering; Becky Welch, Director of Quality, Learner Involvement and Attainment; and Plumbing student Josh Pyrah, who is a member of the College’s student leadership team.
It was one of more than 80 mosques across the United Kingdom to take part in the national initiative.
Afthkar Quayuum – a Governor at Warrington Collegiate – gave the trio a tour of the Bewsey mosque, as well as a short presentation and discussion on the five principals of Islam.
Hannah said: “We really enjoyed our visit to Warrington Islamic Centre and are so grateful to Afthkar for showing us around and allowing us to witness one of their prayer sessions. The visit gave us a real insight into the day-to-day goings on of a busy Muslim centre of worship and we look forward to working alongside Afthkar in the near future.”
