Aspiring fitness instructors have been given a first-hand insight into what it takes to make the transition from the classroom to the gym floor, thanks to a visit from experienced personal trainer Nikhola Ryan.
Speaking to level 2 fitness instructor and level 3 personal trainer students, Nikhola– from DW Fitness – explained the importance of building a unique brand and keeping up to date with fitness trends if students are to succeed in the competitive industry.
She shared her experiences of personal training and how whilst it can be challenging at times, it is a worthwhile experience when you see clients reach their goals.
Phil Whalley, who is studying the level 2 certificate in fitness instructing at the college, said: “It was great to hear Nikhola’s experiences of the industry. She gave us some great tips that will help us as we progress in our careers.”
Nikhola is the latest in a series of guest speakers to visit the college, with sportstudents previously having guest lectures from Warrington Wolves’ coaching and fitness staff.
Ryan Millington, lecturer in sport at the college, added: “Having guest lectures from people like Nikhola helps to further enhance what our students are learning, giving them that first-hand account of what life is like within the industry. Listening to Nikhola and the success she has had will be an inspiration to those who wish to follow in her footsteps and will push them to pursue their goals.”
