High flying Aviation student Ryan Waterworth says studying at Warrington Collegiate gave him the head start he needed to land his dream job with Menzies Aviation.
The 17-year-old from Warrington has been working as a Passenger Service Agent for the company, which provides passenger, ramp and cargo handling services to a number of airlines.
Menzies serve over 500 airlines worldwide, including EasyJet, where Ryan is currently working.
Ryan, who recently completed the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Aviation Operations at the Winwick Road campus, said: “I’m really, really enjoying it – it’s the job I wanted. Every day is different – we can be checking in up to six flights a day and dealing with all sorts of scenarios.”
Asked if he had any advice for other people dreaming of a career in Aviation, Ryan said: “Definitely do the College course, 100% do it – it has helped me so much and gave me such a great head start in the industry.
“When I started the job I already had a great insight into what to expect because the College course taught me everything I needed to know. I had to go on a two-week training course with Menzies but I had already covered pretty much all of that here at the College.”
Ryan – whose ultimate dream is to progress to a much sought after role as Cabin Crew – is just one of the successful Aviation students who have secured top jobs in the airline industry after completing their studies at Warrington Collegiate.
Other students are now working as ground crew or cabin crew at top companies including Jet 2, Monarch and Thomas Cook. Former Cabin Crew student Tiki McCormick landed her dream job as a Flight Attendant with Virgin Atlantic, while former Aviation Operations student Andy Everest went on to work as part of the ground crew at City Airport & Heliport in Manchester.
