Warrington Collegiate’s Winwick Road campus came to life last week as it welcomed hundreds of new students.
As well as getting to grips with their chosen course and campus life, students were able to enjoy themselves at the College’s annual Fresher’s Fair, organised by the Active You enrichment team.
Organisations including Liverpool County FA, Warrington Disability Partnership, St Rocco’s, Fit4Less, Pure Gym, Lucozade, Xercise4Less, Urbaneat and Health Watch were on hand to get students involved with volunteering.
Students were able to try out enrichment activities as well as sign up for College clubs, societies and sports including football, rugby, Boogie Bounce, and the ever popular annual trip to New York, which takes place next year. Adding to the fun was LiveWire with their miniature crazy golf course, as well as a giant Instagram frame which proved extremely popular with students.
College Sport Maker Jordyn Layfield, who organised the event, said: “The Fresher’s Fair was a huge success and it was great to see so many students signing up for enrichment activities. It’s always great to see the students enjoy themselves and it’s a great way to welcome them to the College and give them a real feel for College life.
“We’ve got so many exciting things planned for our students this year and cannot wait to get things started.”
Jordyn is part of the College’s Active You team, responsible for enrichment activities across the College. Active You gives students the chance to socialise while staying healthy through a range of exciting activities including horse riding, table tennis, badminton, squash, netball, Boogie Bounce, cheerleading, Clubbercise and many more. Activities take place all year round and many are designed to complement students’ studies.
