Carpentry & Joinery students starting at Warrington Collegiate this September with have the tools of the trade thanks to a generous donation of 480 tape measures from Axminster Tools & Machinery – one of the biggest names in UK tool stores.
The partnership – the latest between the College and industry professionals – will also see students visit Axminster’s Warrington store for hand and power tool demonstrations.
Lee Moorhouse, Lecturer in Carpentry & Joinery said: “We constantly try to teach our students about the need to buy and use well-made, professional tooling and to be able to say that we have a sponsorship by Axminster Tools is fantastic and gives our learners a good brand knowledge. This donation of 480 tape measures is unbelievable and we hope to keep this partnership going by promoting Axminster in our workshops.
“Axminster’s reputation amongst the Carpentry & Joinery trades is second to none and has been since before I was an apprentice over 20 years ago. To have made this connection with their Warrington branch shows our students and potential students that we can not only provide excellent training, but that we are supported by the quality tools that Axminster can supply.”
The tape measures were presented by Phil Lewis, Warrington Store Manager.
He said: “We are always looking to work with local projects and colleges so that we can give something back. Axminster has been around for a long time and it’s always nice to work with local schools and colleges as it gives students high quality equipment from the start. Quality doesn’t have to cost the earth.”
