An Accounting student from Warrington Collegiate has secured a prestigious three-week paid work placement during the summer at Ernst and Young (EY) in Manchester.
Jonathan Churm, who is studying the Accounting Advanced Diploma Level 3 at the Winwick Road campus, will join the EY team on Monday 1st August after been selected for the company’s Smart Futures program.
As part of the scheme, 19-year-old Jonathan will receive mentoring from the firm – who deliver exceptional client service to the world’s largest organisations – during his second year of study.
The Smart Futures program will give Jonathan a foot in the door at one of the top four professional services firms in the world and, added to what he has learned at Warrington Collegiate, is sure to help him further his career.
Previous placement students have obtained full time jobs with EY.
Jonathan, who works part time alongside his studies, said: “Studying at Warrington Collegiate has helped me towards advancing a career in Accountancy. It has provided me with a recognised qualification which has strengthened my present position and has aided me to secure my first employment.
“I have enjoyed studying the modules and working in a team, gaining a greater understanding by relating the topics back to my workplace.
“I start my placement at Ernst and Young in August – I can’t wait.”
