An operations/departmental manager is generally someone who is able to manage teams and/or projects, and has responsibility for planning, delivering and achieving departmental goals and objectives. They are responsible for the operational and/or policy delivery of the organisation's strategy. This apprenticeship has been designed to provide access to development opportunities for as wide a range of individuals as possible. This includes individuals who are at the start of their career and who wish to take their first steps into professional management, as well as those who may already have developed practical experience but who wish to develop their theoretical understanding of management skills.
The Operations/Departmental Manager Apprenticeship is suitable for someone who manages teams or projects and is responsible for achieving operational or departmental goals and objectives as part of their organisation's strategy. The apprenticeship covers the following units:
You will be required to complete a skills scan to confirm your suitability for the level prior to commencing the apprenticeship and identify prior level of knowledge and skills. On programme learning will require the learners to achieve the Institute for Leadership and Management (ILM) Diploma for Leaders and Managers level 5. The knowledge component will be delivered in a series of 1 day workshops. This component can be delivered at the college or on site, and tailored to the organisation. Learners will be required to complete online assignment or knowledge tests to confirm their understanding of the topic. Our aim is to create an individual learning plan to suit both the Apprentice and the employer's needs including: Observations, Assignments, Professional Discussions, Product Evidence and Witness Statements.
On Successul completion, aapprentices can register as full members with the Chartered Management Institute and/or the Institute of Leadership and Management, and those with three years' of management experience can apply for Chartered Manager status through the CMI. You may choose to continue your studies with a Degree Level Apprenticeship.
You will be allocated a designated apprentice coach to guide you through your apprenticeship. We also have a team of staff dedicated to providing learning support if it is required and a welfare team that are on hand to offer guidance, support and help when needed.
