This course will give you the knowledge and skills to enable you to plan, deliver and evaluate safe and effective sessions. It will also provide entry onto the Register of Exercise Professionals at Level 2 and can be achieved in the context of gym, exercise to music, water-based exercise and physical activity for children. This course will be in the context of gym.
During this course you will cover topics including:
The skills and knowledge required to plan and prepare a gym-based exercise programme with apparently healthy adults - both individuals and groups. This may include young people in the 14-16 age range, provided they are part of a larger adult group. Client groups also covered are older adults, ante and postnatal clients and disabled clients provided the relevant contraindications and key safety guidelines are observed.
The course is delivered by a combination of online distance learning and practical sessions as well as online examination for the theory components of the course and continuous practical assessment.
Certificate in personal training level three or any level three additional fitness qualification such as sports massage, nutritional advice for sport and employment in the fitness industry.

This qualification is open to all.
The course requires physical exertion and individual participation is essential; therefore, a degree of physical fitness is necessary. There is also an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved and learners should have basic skills in communication pitched at level 2.
