Even if you have been out of education for a long time, our expert tutors will put you at ease and help you feel ready to progress.

Trips and visits

As this is a part-time adult course, trips and visits are generally not applicable. However, you will get the opportunity to participate in our Reading Ahead initiative.

Click here to get Reading Ahead and see where it takes you!

Reading Ahead is a brilliant fun programme that builds your ability to use reading and writing in your studies, work and life in general. Your English tutor will give you all the support you need to confidently read and review literature.

You could also get into the Accelerated Reader scheme, reading stories for pleasure while improving your spelling, grammar and punctuation.

Meet our students

Rebecca Newton
English is great. I have learned more in the past 6 months than I ever did at school! Going to university would not be possible without the Access course or English GCSE. The college is a fantastic place to study.”

Rebecca Newton, who is studying Access to HE: Health Professionals, decided to return to education to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse. She says her course allows her to learn in a flexible way and fits in well around her other commitments. Alongside her course, Rebecca is also studying towards her English GCSE, which she really enjoys. After completing her course, Rebecca intends to progress on to university to study adult nursing.

It was during this time that Sid’s real passion for teaching developed, so after finishing his degree, he decided to complete his PGCE in secondary education before going on to teach in secondary schools for five years.

Sid joined the college in 2013 and over his time here has taught GCSE Maths and Maths Functional Skills.

Sid says: “I love the excitement of teaching; no two days are the same and I really enjoy being able to help students learn and improve their skills which will support them in the future.”
