Trips and visits are generally not applicable for part-time adult and apprenticeship accounting courses. However, there may be opportunities to visit higher education institutions to gain an insight into where your studies could take you.

Our accountancy tutors are dual professionals, having worked in the sector as well as teaching in it. They all have extensive links in the industry and therefore bring real -life accountancy examples into their classroom delivery.

Ciaran is currently studying his Level 3 AAT Accounting Apprenticeship, after having successfully completed his level 2. Ciaran works and studies at Warrington & Vale Royal College, and feels he is gaining fantastic industry experience. Ciaran says his apprenticeship is helping him learn how finance works within a large organisation and he is looking forward to developing his skills by progressing onto his level 4.
Meet our tutors
Nicola Wilson
Nicola Wilson, our subject lead for Accountancy at the college, brings a wealth of finance industry experience to her role. Before joining the Further Education sector, she excelled in various accountancy practices, reaching the position of senior accountant with a focus on individual tax affairs.
Nicola emphasises the commitment and enthusiasm of the college's tutors in ensuring students are well-prepared for their chosen careers. Her practical experience adds a valuable dimension to her teaching approach, aiming to equip students with the essential skills for success in the field of accountancy.
Andrew Williams
AAT Accounting Tutor Andrew Williams worked in numerous finance roles before deciding to return to university and pursue a career in teaching. Alongside teaching at the college, Andrew works as treasurer for a local charity and uses real life examples from this job role to illustrate the finance tasks he sets his students.
Andrew advises anyone considering studying an accounting qualification: “It is important to be numerate and meticulous but equally to be good at communicating. A student should ensure they fully commit to their chosen course of study to get the best out of their time at the college.”
Paul Mushrow
Paul Mushrow, AAT Accounting Tutor and Assessor, has been teaching accounting apprentices at the college for the past three years, and really enjoys sharing his experience and knowledge with his students.
Paul first started teaching Business Skills in 1986 before specialising in accountancy. Since then he has taught AAT in various colleges across the North West in a variety of roles including of Department, Faculty Head and Directorship. Paul says: "The best thing about teaching here is watching as apprentices improve their knowledge and experience, often gaining promotions as they do so. It's brilliant seeing those individuals flourish in their careers as they progress through the levels. Being a part of that development is the best feeling."

Learning Resource Centre
HE Learning Centre
The Craig Atherton Higher Education Learning Centre is a dedicated area for students on higher education programmes, situated in the college's LRC, and providing both quiet study pods and breakout areas for group study.
The Learning Centre houses a number of PC and Apple Mac computers as well as providing space for students to study using their own digital devices. The space also houses pop up support workshops delivered by the college's welfare & learning support teams on topics such as study skills.
