Work placement & work related activity

Our fantastic links with employers across the region means that 100% of our students have access to amazing work placements!

You won’t just spend your time in the classroom at Warrington & Vale Royal College; you’ll be out in the real world, working alongside employers and gaining valuable experience. We are passionate about making sure our students are ready for work when they leave us, which is why work placements and work related activity are an important part of your time here.

Benefits of work placement include:

  • Great for your CV
  • It will help you to understand what will be expected of you when you start work; getting there on time, meeting deadlines and working in a team
  • It will enhance your knowledge and help you with your course
  • It will give you a further insight into the job and industry you dream of working in
  • It’s a great foot in the door and will mean you’re already on the company’s radar when job opportunities come up – many of our students go on to secure work with the companies they have previously carried out placements with.

Our experienced Work Placement Team is on hand to help you when it comes to organising placements, but we also encourage students to find their own.

Here’s what some of our students are saying about work placements…

“It educated me on how to deal with people who suffer from dementia and also what precautions to look out for and how to stay calm when challenged. I also enjoyed spending time with the service users and hearing about their stories”.
Health & Social Care student.

“I enjoyed everything about our work experience. It made me realise how hard it was for the PCSOs because some of them found it really hard. I liked listening to the feedback and learning more about social orders and that anti-social behaviour isn’t an offence”.
Public Services student.

“I enjoyed working with different people, improving my confidence and communication skills. I enjoyed planning sessions and my own football festival”.
Sport student.

“I think I learned a lot from my work placement because it taught me the importance of being reliable and turning up on time and I also think this helped me develop my characterisation and I feel I’m now able to portray a wider range of characters”.
Art student.
