Entry level Maths students at Warrington & Vale Royal College’s Winsford campus hosted a coffee and cake afternoon for Alzheimer’s Society Cupcake Day and raised a whopping £137.33 to help beat dementia.
The students donated tombola prizes and hosted a stall in the college’s Atrium canteen, selling cakes and raffle tickets. The money raised will fund pioneering research, crucial support services and vital care.
Warrington & Vale Royal College’s Lecturer in Maths, Julie Hood, said: “Dementia is now the leading cause of death in England and Wales, overtaking both cancer and heart disease.
“The £137 raised will cover the cost of supporting one patient with early stage Alzheimer’s for three months on an Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery trial.
“We’re incredibly proud of our students’ hard work in fundraising and raising awareness of the national event.”
