Apprenticeship Success- Business Administration at Norkem Limited

Norkem Limited is a worldwide chemical distributor selling into many different sectors such as animal feed, agriculture, food, pharmaceutical and technical. The college works alongside Norkem Limited to offer high quality Business Administration apprenticeships, providing students with an impressive skill set and a chance to progress within the company.

Abigail Coppock, who has recently completed her Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship, has been with the company for 3 years and has made impressive progress. Originally a Trainee Business Administrator, she became a Business Administrator and then progressed onto become to a Logistics Coordinator. Abigail thoroughly enjoyed her apprenticeship and gained a variety of new skills, stating “I have learnt all about logistics, administration and working in a business environment. I really enjoy all aspects of my job.” Throughout her course, Abigail always received fantastic support from her college tutor Jill Murphy, saying “Jill was a brilliant tutor; she was always helpful and attentive. I couldn’t have asked for anyone better to help me!”

Tia Brothers, who is one year into her Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship, works within the transport department and is keen to keep developing new skills and progressing within the company. Tia feels she has gained a great deal of knowledge so far, saying “I feel that my apprenticeship has allowed me to have a broader understanding of business fundamentals and how organisations operate. Having this knowledge has allowed me to understand more about Norkem and how the company operates and why; this will help me along my career.” Like Abigail, Tia also feels she has received excellent support from her college tutor; “Jill has guided me through each and every task, always encouraging me to take my work to the next level, to ensure that I achieve the best grades possible.”

Emma Cadley, Logistics Manager and Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser, works closely with Abigail and Tia, and believes they have made a fantastic contribution to the company, stating “Their contributions have been invaluable in helping me to grow the department and their commitment to the roles have been exemplary. They have fitted in extremely well in both the department and the Company as a whole. It is nice to hear the thoughts and opinions from the new as well as the existing members of the team as it gives a much better balance.”
