Andy enlisted in the British Army in 1982 and was posted to the 1st Battalion of the Duke of Wellington regiment, based in Gibraltar. Throughout his 24 year army career, he served all over the world in places like Northern Ireland, Central and South America, Canada, North Africa and Kenya.
Andy also served in the Balkans, with challenging tours in Bosnia and Kosovo.
On retiring from the army as a Warrant Officer in 2006, Andy studied for a teaching qualification at Blackburn College, where he taught Public Services for three years. He joined Warrington & Vale Royal College in 2009 as Curriculum Co-ordinator, and then Curriculum Manager for Public Services.
Andy was promoted to Head of Faculty two years ago and is now responsible for Public Services, Travel & Tourism, Sport, Health & Social Care, Childcare, Hospitality & Catering and Hair & Beauty.
Andy is a keen sportsman, having played rugby, cricket and boxing in the army. In his spare time, Andy enjoys running, competing in prestigious events such as the Lake District 50 mile race and the Lakeland Trial Running Series.
